This local church is one of the many worldwide branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. This church was established by its Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, “to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.” (Church Manual, page 17).
You are invited to come to the local Sunday church service where you will hear a Lesson Sermon comprised of citations from the Bible on a relevant topic and correlative passages from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by Mrs. Eddy. These are read by regular members of the church elected by the membership. Sunday services are held at 10:00 am, and Sunday School for students up to the age of 20 is held at the same time.
All are welcome!
This church also holds a Wednesday evening meeting where brief and inspiring readings on a timely subject are read. These are followed by testimonies from those attending the meeting who wish to share how the study of Christian Science is blessing their lives. These meetings are held at 7:30 pm each week.
If you need a break in your busy day, there is a library/bookstore located just a few blocks from Main Street that is open to the public. Located at 810 Olive Avenue, free parking is provided. Drop in over your lunch hour to read the unbiased and award-winning international newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, to keep abreast of current events.
This is the place to renew your acquaintance with the Bible and read correlative passages from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy that illustrate how these ideas are current and applicable to meeting all challenges (physical, emotional, financial, or personal) today. And if you haven’t read Science and Health before, you will find that this book explains how easy it is to commune with ‘the sustaining infinite’ — to learn how deeply God cares for you and helps you meet each and every challenge. Read how others are finding spiritual solutions to their needs through a renewed understanding of prayer-based healing. Consult popular Bible commentaries that will give you new insight into the meaning of the Bible. Or just spend a few quiet and refreshing moments alone with your thoughts.
